Dr. Cesar Parra: I have been doing clinics and working with Sharon Brandes Myers for the past 8 years. Through those years I have watched the horses and students in her barn learn and progress in their training while enjoying the process. Sharon is a first rate trainer and an honest and hardworking person. She and her husband David have a wealth of horse knowledge and take great care of the animals and great pride in their facility. I highly recommend Chimney Hill Farm to anyone looking for dressage training in the Maryland/DC Metropolitan area.
Dr. Cesar Parra, competitor in the 2004 Olympic Games, the 2002 and 2006 World Equestrian Games, the 2005 FEI World Cup Final, as well as Pan American Games medallist.
Hewan Tomlinson: I came to Sharon and David Myers' Chimney Hill Farm in the spring of 2005, as an enthusiastic beginner and first-time horse owner with a magnificent schoolmaster and no idea of how to access his abilities. Under Sharon's guidance, I now compete at recognized dressage shows, participate in clinics, and school many of the higher level movements. Most recently, Sharon helped me find a great new partner, a talented Westfalen gelding she is teaching me to bring along. Working with Sharon reminds me of when I was a young dancer being developed in a proud tradition of classical ballet. As all great teachers and coaches do, she has inspired me - to be the best horseperson I can be both on and off the horse. I count myself and my horse extremely fortunate to be in such great hands!
Hewan Tomlinson, boarder and student since 2005, currently works for the US Environmental Protection Agency, and is a former dancer with Boston Ballet.
Mimi Shepherd: Sharon Myers and I have been friends for many years and in that time we have experienced the dressage journey together. As well as enjoying our friendship she has been my dressage instructor. Recently, I was fortunate enough to purchase a quality mount and with Sharon's instruction and knowledge, I now ride a competent, skilled and willing partner. Sharon designed an indiviualized program for me and my horse based on the dressage training pyramid as well as focusing on the quality of the gaits, the importance of body dynamics and a strong desire to support my goals. With Sharon's motivation, I have learned upper level movements, including piaffe, by utilizing feel, analytical skills and more effective riding. I find lessons are demanding but always enjoyable and progressive. Professionally speaking, Sharon is dedicated to the sport of dressage and the success of her students. She continues her own education by taking clinics and studying under Olympian Dr. Cesar Parra. Sharon's enthusiasm for classical dressage is contagious and I would encourage anyone who has goals in this sport to study with her.
